I'm still debating between the XM-1 and the XL-1, the XM-1 is winning so far cause it's cheaper.

Canon has now come out with the XL-1s.
I was lucky enough to review it for a magazine.
It has pretty much everything you would want in a digital camera...however, it appears that the Sony VX-2000 is more light sensitive in low-light situations.
And The VX-2000 is a lot cheaper then the Canon, HOWEVER, you won't learn as much about depth of field, memory presets, shutter strategies..etc.
Good luck.
